Chiropractic Care

What Is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic care is focused on working with your joints, muscles and nerves to restore proper function and mobility. When the brain can’t properly communicate with the body through the nervous system, you experience pain or loss of function. Chiropractic can help restore function by removing interference in that line of communication.

How Can Chiropractic Benefit Me?

Perhaps you have chronic pain, or are seeking sports chiropractic following an injury. Or maybe you’re looking for pregnancy chiropractic or desiring to give your children a healthier start at life through pediatric chiropractic. You may have suffered an injury at work, or were injured in an automobile accident. Whatever the reason for seeing us, we want to help you and your family live your healthiest life, naturally!

But chiropractic isn’t just about pain relief; the benefits of chiropractic care are many:

  • Better sleep
  • watermarkIncreased concentration
  • Increased energy
  • Improved joint motion and coordination
  • Improved physical function and performance
  • Improved posture
  • Relief from stress and tension disorders
  • Relief from joint discomfort
  • Relief from bursitis
  • Relief from arthritis
  • Relief from chronic injuries
  • Headaches
  • Ear infections
  • Scoliosis
  • Asthma
  • Blood pressure
  • Healthy pregnancy
  • Surgery prevention
  • Latching issues with newborns
  • Colic

Anything affected by your nervous system can respond to chiropractic treatment. And, since your nervous system controls every function of your body, chiropractic is a pretty powerful tool.

Our Approach to Care

We rely on manual adjusting techniques, but can also use gentler forms of adjustments if desired.

We determine and treat the cause of your pain, instead of treating the symptoms. We use manual, hands-on techniques to address the source of your problem and integrate soft tissue treatments and physiotherapy to speed relief.

We commonly provide care and relief for:

  • Ankles
  • Back
  • Headaches
  • Knees
  • Neck
  • Shoulders
  • Wrists

Dr. Rookstool relies primarily on manual adjustment techniques, like Diversified and Gonstead. These methods quickly free up joints, correcting fixations, so the body can start working the way it’s supposed to.

For patients who are nervous about twisting or popping, or who are in too much pain to allow for traditional adjustment methods, Dr. Rookstool can turn to instrument-assisted adjustments using the Activator (R)

Method. Other options include Thompson Drop and Sacro Occipital Techniques(R) (or SOT (R) Method).

Dr. Rookstool also incorporates physical therapy techniques into his treatments for improved results. These include Graston Technique, Kinesio Taping® and Myofascial Release. These therapies help restore proper muscle function, which is particularly important. If a muscle is too tight for a prolonged period, it will develop scar tissue and will never heal itself.

Spinal decompression and massage therapy are also available and are important components of a well-rounded treatment plan.

What to Expect from an Adjustment

If you’re new to chiropractic, you may have concerns or be nervous about being adjusted. You can rest easy — chiropractic adjustments are very safe and normally cause no discomfort. In fact, the release you’ll feel is often very pleasant.

Dr. Rookstool always begins by applying light pressure and can add more pressure if needed. With multiple adjustment methods available, we can discuss which method you prefer and which makes you most comfortable.
